Crores of farmers across the country are waiting for the 22nd installment of Rs 2,000 under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Payment was expected before Holi, but it has not been released yet, due to which many beneficiaries are confused about the next transfer date. There has been no official announcement yet from the government as to when the next installment will be credited. However, according to media reports, the installment may be announced around March 13, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Assam. Earlier reports said that the installment may be released by the end of February or before Holi, but till now the payment has not been credited in the bank accounts of the farmers. This was expected because last year’s trends show that the first installment of PM-KISAN usually comes in February every year.
What is PM-KISAN Scheme?
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme provides financial assistance to small and marginal farmers across India. Under this scheme, eligible farmers are given Rs 6,000 every year by the Central Government. This amount is given in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. This money is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, which ensures that the payment reaches the beneficiary without any middleman. Since its launch in 2019, the scheme has become one of the government’s largest income-support programs for farmers.
Why are farmers waiting for the 22nd installment?
The last installment was released in late 2025, and beneficiaries typically receive payments every four months. Because of this schedule, farmers were expecting the 22nd installment in February 2026. However, now that February is over and Holi has also passed, the payment is still awaited. From this it is being speculated that the government may announce the next installment during the upcoming public program of the Prime Minister.
Who may not receive the next payment
Not every registered farmer gets the installment automatically. Payment may be stopped if the eligibility conditions are not met. Farmers cannot get the 22nd installment in the following cases:
- e-KYC process not completed
- Farmer ID not linked or verified on portal
- Land records not verified
- Any member of the family is working in a government job
- The farmer or family member is paying income tax
- Any family member who is getting a government pension of Rs 10,000 or more every month
- The government updates the beneficiary list before every installment, so ineligible accounts are removed during verification.
Farmers should take these important steps
- To avoid delays in payments, farmers should ensure that necessary formalities are completed on the portal.
- These include completing e-KYC verification, checking land record details and verifying eligibility on the PM-KISAN website.
- Farmers can also use the Kisan e-Mitra chatbot on the portal to get quick information about their registration and payment status.
How to check your name in the beneficiary list
- Farmers can check the beneficiary list online to confirm whether they are eligible for the upcoming installment:

- Go to Beneficiary List Section
- Select State, District, Sub-District, Block and Village
- Click on submit to see the list
If their name is in the list and all the details are verified, then an installment of Rs 2,000 will be directly credited to their bank account after the government releases the payment. Currently, farmers across the country are waiting for the official update on the 22nd PM-KISAN installment, which may come later this week.
