A tragic incident occurred on Thursday evening in Jagatpuri Colony, Modinagar, Ghaziabad. A 16-year-old ninth-grade student going for tuition was attacked with a sharp weapon.
The assailant was identified as 35-year-old Shaukeen, who was a friend of the student’s father.
After the attack, the student was admitted to the hospital in critical condition. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, spreading tension throughout the area.
This gruesome incident occurred in the evening when the student, identified as Nidhi (name changed) in the article, was going from her home for coaching. Suddenly, Shaukeen, who was already lying in wait, attacked her with a sword. After the first blow, the injured Nidhi tried to flee for her life, but Shaukeen chased her and attacked her brutally once again. Locals said that Nidhi was begging the assailant for mercy. Her desperate plea, “Please Uncle, leave me… I am like your daughter,” could not stop Shaukeen. He continuously struck the girl, leaving her profusely bleeding.
Many people were present in the street at the time of the incident. They showed courage and tried to catch Shaukeen. However, the assailant tried to escape, but the crowd caught him, severely beat him, and then handed him over to the police. Shaukeen threw his sword into a pond while escaping, which was later recovered. The police immediately took him into custody and are interrogating him.
Communal tension spread in the area as the assailant and the victim belonged to different communities. After the incident, Hindu Yuva Vahini workers reached the spot and protested, demanding strict action against the accused. DCP Rural Vivek Chand Yadav arrived at the scene and controlled the situation by assuring people of action. Security arrangements have been increased in the area, and police forces from nearby stations have also been deployed.
The student’s father, who works as a painter, stated that his daughter’s condition is very critical and she has been admitted to a private hospital. She has sustained several injuries on her neck, head, and other parts of her body. The father mentioned that Shaukeen frequently visited their home as he worked with him, and he knew that Nidhi left for coaching at 4 PM.
This incident once again raises questions about the safety of women and girls in society. This attack on a minor student presents a horrifying picture of how betrayal, addiction, and violence have ruined the fabric of society.
This incident has created an atmosphere of concern not only in Ghaziabad but across the entire country. The police are investigating the case, but the question remains whether society and the administration will take stricter steps to prevent such incidents.
