What is ‘kokedama’ technique of growing plants?

Actually, the plants in Kokedama do not need pots or land. This is a Japanese method, which is becoming more popular now. In this, the roots of the plant are wrapped in a round ball of soil and moss, which retains moisture for a long time. This is the reason that in this technique water consumption is very less and the plants still remain healthy. This method is especially useful for those who live in cities, where space is less and it becomes difficult to water the plants daily. The most important thing is that Kokedama is also eco-friendly. There are no plastic pots in it, there is no wastage of water and plants grow well with less things.

How does KOKEDAMA work?

In kokedama, the roots of the plant are protected in a round ball of soil. This clay ball is wrapped with moss or coconut fiber, which retains moisture for a long time. The plant is watered by immersing it as per requirement (soaking method), due to which the roots take only as much water as is required. At the same time, extra water does not spread out.
