In this discussion, the two countries decided that they will now promote mutual trade in the local currency ie India and Mauritius ‘Mauritiyas’ instead of the dollar.
This decision indicates the changing economic equations in the world. Now the time has come that small and trusted partner countries should trade the dependence on the dollar by doing business in their currency.

Modi did not call this meeting just a formal meeting, but called it a spiritual meeting. He said that the relationship between India and Mauritius is far beyond partnership, like a family. This meeting in Kashi has also added both countries emotionally and culturally.
Big investment in health and infrastructure
Many big projects were agreed in this meeting. PM Modi said, ‘We will also carry forward projects like Chagos Marine Protected Area, SSR International Airport ATC tower and highway and ring road expansion. This package is no help; This is an investment in our common future. Last year, UPI and RuPay cards were launched in Mauritius. Now we will work towards enabling business in local currency.
Along with this, India, 500 -bed AYUSH will help in the construction of facilities like AYUSH Excellence Center, An Veterinary Hospital, Veterinary School, and ATC tower in Mauritius.
Shared goals in Indian Ocean
Prime Minister Modi also reiterated that the dream and goal of India and Mauritius is one. To make the Indian Ocean independent, safe and prosperous. He said that India is standing at every step with Mauritius, whether it is about development or sovereignty. This year has been special for Mauritius, as Britain has handed over the sovereignty of Chagos Islands. Modi congratulated Mauritius on this occasion and said that India has always been against colonialism and will support Mauritius’ sovereignty.
