Pitra Paksha starts
Shradh 2025 starting date: The second lunar eclipse of the year is going to take place today i.e. 7 September 2025 at night. This eclipse is considered very special, because it will appear in India. There is also Bhadrapada Purnima on this day. According to astrology, after 100 years, such a coincidence has been made when Pitra Paksha is starting with lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipse is an astronomical event, but it is not considered auspicious in the scriptures. In Hinduism, the Sutak period begins before the eclipse and that is why no auspicious work is done during this period.
Pitra Paksha, which lasts 15 days, starts with Bhadrapada Purnima, which will conclude on Ashwin Amavasya. The lunar eclipse on 7 September 2025 will not have any effect on the ancestral side. At the same time, Shraddha Paksha will conclude on 21 September on the all -round Moksha Amavasya. Pitra Paksha has special religious significance, which is dedicated to our ancestors. It is said that the souls of the ancestors get peace and get rid of Pitra debt due to the work done in the ancestral side.
According to religious beliefs, there are some such tasks during the Pitra Paksha, which should not be done even by forgetting. It is said that by doing forbidden works in Shraddha, the ancestors do not get blessings and at the same time a person may have to face Pitra Dosha.
