The time of Pitrupaksha is considered to be a special occasion for the ancestors to remember and tarpan in Hinduism. According to the Panchang, this time Pitrupaksha will start from September 7 and will run till 21 September 2025 and during this time lakhs of devotees in Kashi will offer Tripindi Shraddha for the peace and salvation of their ancestors. The special thing is that this time Pitrupaksha will be 14 days because due to Malamas, its duration continues to decrease every three years. Vampire Mochan Kund, also known as Vimlodak Kund, is famous for its antiquity. This pool mentioned in Skanda Purana is believed to have been built by the Gana Kapidishwar of Lord Shiva himself. Its antiquity can be gauged from the fact that it is considered older than the river Ganges.
What is Tripindi Shraddha and why is it so special?
Tripindi Shraddha is a special ritual that is performed to remove Pitra dosha arising due to lack of Shraddha for three years. According to Pradeep Pandey, the Mahant of Vampire Response, many types of obstacles in life, such as home tribulation, premature death, accidents and other difficult problems due to Pitra Dosha. Through this ritual, efforts are made to get rid of these problems. This ritual consists of three hours of worship, which includes actions like bathing, meditation and charity. During the puja, bodies are made with rice, barley and sesame flour and the Tridevas- Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh are worshiped. The main objective of this worship is to satisfy the fathers and give peace to their soul.

The ritual of Tripindi Shraddha is performed on the seven ghats of the Vampire Mochan Kund. According to Krishna Pandey, a pilgrim priest of Sher Wala Ghat, these seven ghats are included.

After performing Tripindi Shraddha, the devotees perform Jalabhishek of Kapidishwar Mahadev, located nearby. It is said that only after completing this ritual, the ancestors are seated.
A crowd of millions gathered in Pitrupaksha
In the 14 -day period of Pitrupaksha, more than five lakh families from the country and around the world come to Kashi to perform Tripindi Shraddha. About one hundred and fifty families who performed this ritual are associated with this work as a pilgrim priest. On an average, it costs eight to ten thousand rupees in this ritual. This ritual is not only a symbol of reverence for the ancestors, but it is also a ray of hope for those families who want to get rid of Pitra dosha. This Tripindi Shraddha, which takes place in Kashi, is a tradition that has been going on for centuries which shows the feeling of faith, reverence and salvation.
