Sita Kund is an ancient pilgrimage place located in the Vindhya region of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. It is said that during this pool exile, Goddess Sita revealed this pool and here she also performed the pindadan of her father -in -law Maharaj Dasaratha. Why did Goddess Sita to offer ancestors?
According to the popular story, Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Sita stayed here for a short time during exile. During the Shraddha Paksha, one day Lord Rama left Lakshmana Devi Sita and went to bathe in the Ganges. Meanwhile, Mother Sita remembered her ancestors. All the ancestors appeared there as soon as they did this. At that time there was no water for tarpan. Mother called the Varuna Devta, which made a pool there. Mother Sita offered to the ancestors with the same water.

Goddess Sita also founded the Shivalinga near Sita Kund, which is known as Siteshwar. People from far and wide come here to visit and worship. Many more places associated with Goddess Sita and Lord Shri Ram are famous in this region. It is believed that Lord Shri Ram stayed here for a long time during exile.
