Piran kaliyar sharif ars: Piran Kaliyar Sharif, situated on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, is not only a big Markaj i.e. for the Sufi fans of the world, but for the Sufi fans of the whole world. Here Hazrat Alauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir Kaliyari is the dargah of Rahmatullah Alaih, which people love are affectionately called Sabir Pak. The annual Urs of Hazrat Sabir Pak is held every year at the Piran Kaliyar Sharif Dargah. This time the 757th annual Urs of Sabir Pakistan is going to start, which is also called Urs Mubarak. This Urs will be from 5 September to 8 September 2025. Like every year, Roorkee has a big spiritual fair organized in Kaliyar Sharif, which includes millions of people from India and abroad.
What is Urs?
In Islam and Sufi tradition, “Urs” is said to be the day when a Wali-e-Allah (Sufi saint) is moved from this world. In simple words, this day is celebrated like his “rain”, but instead of sorrow with happiness and love, because in the eyes of Sufis it is a real meeting. It is also called “Sufi Fair”.
When does the Urs of Piran Kaliyar seem?
The annual Urs of Sabir Pak is celebrated on 13, 14 and 15th of the Rabi-ul-Awaal month of the Islamic calendar. During this time, millions of Zarine come here not only from different parts of India but also from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Arab countries. The Urs of Piran Kaliyar Sharif begins with the flag hoisting and henna cord, after which Urs starts when the moon appears.
Urs’s specialty
On the occasion of Urs, the entire Dargah Sharif is decorated with flowers and lights. During this time, qawwaliya, naat and Sufi Kalam are introduced here, which contains the message of love, humanity and peace. Also, the Zairin offers a sheet, rose flowers and incense sticks at the dargah. During this time, there is also a special arrangement of anchor in the dargah, in which people of every religion sit together and eat food. This Urs consists of rituals like henna cord rituals and flag hoisting.
Identification of Sabir Pak
Sabir was a great Sufi saint of Pak Chishti Silsan. His entire life was spent in a faky (simplicity), patience and khidmat-e-khalak (service to the people). This is the reason why he is called “Sabir Pak”. Every person who comes to his dargah still realizes relaxed, relief and might of blessings. The Urs of Piran Kaliyar is not only of Muslims but also people of Hindu, Sikh and other religions with full devotion. This place is the biggest example of Ganga-Jamna Tehzeeb.
