Domestic drugmaker Cipla and Eli Lilly & Company (India) announced an agreement to distribute and promote type 2 diabetes and chronic weight management drug tirazepatide under the new brand name Eurpeak in India. Lilly launched tirazepatide in India under the brand name Monjaro in March 2025. Under this agreement, Cipla has the rights to distribute and promote Eurpik, the second brand of tirazepatide in India, the two companies said in a joint statement shared by Cipla on BSE. This strategic agreement aims to expand the availability of tirazepatide by enabling wider access across the country, beyond the cities where Lilly already has an established presence.
How much will it cost?
Lilly will manufacture and supply Eurpik to Cipla and its price will be similar to Monjaro, the statement said. Winslow Tucker, President and General Manager, Lilly India, said that the launch of the second brand of tirazepatide in India through our commercial agreement with Cipla further enhances Lilly’s commitment to expand access to innovative treatments for chronic diseases. Tucker said that given the growing problem of type 2 diabetes and obesity in India, the widespread availability of tirazepatide will ensure that more patients can benefit from this innovative therapy.
Cipla shares fall
On the other hand, a big fall is being seen in the shares of Cipla on Friday. According to BSE data, Cipla shares fell by 3.35 percent to Rs 1,590 during the trading session. However, the company’s shares had opened with a fall at Rs 1,639.95. However, at 10:15 am, the company’s shares are trading at Rs 1,598 with a decline of 2.87 per cent. A day ago the company’s share was trading at Rs 1,645.25.
