Vikram Sahidev’s upcoming film Anakapalli was originally scheduled to release in theatres on August 7. However, the makers have decided to postpone the release for a short period following positive feedback from distributors and growing interest from OTT platforms.
A special screening was recently held for distributors, and the film received an encouraging response. After watching it, several distributors reportedly suggested that the makers release Anakapalli not only in Telugu but also in Tamil, Malayalam and other languages.
At the same time, leading OTT platforms have shown interest in the film. Considering these opportunities, the team decided not to rush the release and instead prepare a wider and better release plan.
Before finalising the strategy, however, the makers want to hear from the people of Anakapalli.
The film is titled Anakapalli, a major portion of the story and shooting is connected to the town, and the producer also belongs to Anakapalli. Therefore, the team has decided to organise four to five special public screenings in the town before the theatrical release.
These screenings are not meant for celebrities, film personalities or industry members. They will be exclusively for the local audience.
The makers want the people of Anakapalli to watch the film and share their honest opinion.
They believe the first verdict on Anakapalli should come from Anakapalli itself.
The response from the public, distributors and OTT platforms, along with the possibility of releasing the film in other languages, will be considered before finalising the release strategy.
The new theatrical release date is expected to be announced within the next couple of days.
The makers said they have complete confidence in the film and want to listen to the audience before presenting it to a wider market.
