Govardhan Puja Unique Tradition: A unique tradition was performed in village Bhidavad near Badnagar in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh. In the belief that their wish would be fulfilled, people lay down on the ground and the cows kept trampling them by passing by.
Ujjain News: A unique scene of faith and tradition was seen in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on the third day of Diwali i.e. on the day of Govardhan Puja. According to an ancient belief, hundreds of people lay down on the ground and a herd of cows trampled them. The surprising thing is that people neither got hurt nor did they feel any pain. On the contrary, people stood up cheering for Mother Cow and kept smiling.
Cows keep running and people keep smiling
This unique sight was seen in village Bhidavad near Badnagar, about 80 km from Ujjain city. Where on Wednesday morning, after worshiping the cows in Gohri Puja, the villagers lay down on the ground, over which the cows passed. A young man from every house of the village was following this tradition. The family members were standing nearby watching all this. Many people were taking videos and pictures of it. But neither did anyone refuse nor remove the cows.

Let us tell you that this happens not only in Ujjain district, but in different rural areas of Malwa. Which is seen to be linked to religion and belief. This tradition has been named Gauri Puja. Villagers say that by doing this, happiness and prosperity remains in the village. People from the entire village gather to follow this tradition. Cows are decorated and the festival is celebrated with drums. He says that he has been doing it for centuries. He told that whoever lies down on the ground after praying, Mother Cow fulfills his wish. Villagers told that till date no accident has happened by the grace of God. Nor has there been any loss of life. Nor has there been such a serious injury that the young man feels that he will not do this again.
