Peddi: Nearly 6 Minutes of new footage added

The makers of “Peddi” have responded to criticism surrounding the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor’s character by adding fresh footage to the film.

Following the film’s release, several viewers felt that Janhvi Kapoor’s role lacked proper development. Veteran actor Jagapathi Babu, who earned praise for his performance, had also expressed disappointment over some of his scenes being trimmed from the final cut. Director Buchi Babu later assured audiences that the deleted portions would be reinstated to provide better narrative clarity, particularly regarding Janhvi’s character.

However, the team decided to wait until the film completed two weeks in theaters. “Peddi” was released on June 4, with premiere shows beginning on June 3. Having completed its two-week run, the revised version will begin screening from June 18.

According to the makers, the updated version includes an additional 5 minutes and 56 seconds of footage. The newly added scenes are expected to offer more context to certain character arcs and improve the overall flow of the story.

Meanwhile, “Peddi” has crossed the Rs 317 crore gross mark worldwide. The film performed strongly in Andhra Pradesh and posted decent numbers in Telangana. However, its theatrical run in North America turned out to be disappointing.

Overall, the Ram Charan starrer has delivered a mixed result at the box office. Nevertheless, producers and distributors are optimistic that the inclusion of the new footage could help the film sustain its theatrical run for a longer period.
