Peddi-Janhvi Kapoor Row

Along with its box office success, Peddi has also been at the centre of a major controversy. A group of viewers criticised the film for objectifying women through camera angles and love sequences featuring Janhvi Kapoor’s character. The backlash spread quickly on social media and drew strong reactions from across the film industry.

Director Buchi Babu Sana responded publicly and confirmed that Janhvi’s controversial scenes have been removed from the film. He admitted that a few shots turned misleading and said it was never his intention to disrespect any female character.

Co-star Jagapathi Babu also came forward to defend Janhvi. He said she simply did what the director asked her to do and urged people not to troll her or cause her mental distress. Several prominent names from the industry including Jaya Bachchan and singer Sona Mohapatra also weighed in on the controversy.
