The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be played from March 26, with the final set for May 3, 2026. The PSL was usually played in February-March, but the last two seasons have seen the PCB make a change due to ICC events.
Last year, the tournament was postponed to March due to the ICC Champions Trophy.
With the T20 World Cup scheduled in February 2026, the PCB had no option but to postpone it to March again. It is not the most feasible decision for the PCB because the tournament directly clashes with the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has a negative impact on the ratings. Also, many top players prefer to play in the IPL rather than the PSL, thus the international roster quality takes a hit in the PSL.
Speaking at the PSL roadshow in New York, Mohsin Naqvi said that the international series during the period would be adjusted to other dates. Pakistan were set to play two Tests, three ODIs, and as many T20Is in March-April. Naqvi also revealed that the auction for the PSL’s two new franchises is scheduled for January 8. The PSL was a six-team event until the last season, but it will be expanded to eight teams in the next edition.
