Pawan Hans chopper with 7 on board crashes near Mayabunder in Andaman sea, all safe

New Delhi: A Pawan Hans helicopter carrying seven people crashed into the sea near Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday morning. The chopper with five passengers and two crew members on board crash-landed into the sea shortly after taking off from Port Blair at around 9.30 am. All seven people were rescued safely and they did not sustain any injury, officials said.

As per initial reports, the Pawan Hans helicopter took off from Rangat at 9.11 am for Mayabunder. The chopper crashed while attempting to land at Mayabunder. A preliminary inquiry revealed that the aircraft developed a technical glitch and that the pilot made a crash-landing into the sea.

The incident comes hours after an air ambulance en route to Delhi from Jharkhand crashed, killing all seven people on board. The deceased include a patient, a doctor, and two pilots.
