BOSTON (AP) – Pavel Zacha scored two goals, including a crucial late-game tally, to propel the Boston Bruins to a 6-3 victory against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
This win hindered the Wild’s opportunity to secure a playoff spot.
Elias Lindholm also contributed significantly with two goals, while Andrew Peeke and Viktor Arvidsson added to the scoreline. David Pastrnak continued his impressive performance with two assists, extending his point streak to 12 games, as Jeremy Swayman recorded 31 saves for the Bruins.
Bruins’ Recent Performance
In a competitive race for third place in the Atlantic Division, the Bruins have demonstrated strong form, winning four of their last five games and achieving victory in 15 of their last 17 home matches.
Wild’s Struggles
The Wild, currently holding third place in the Central Division, have faced difficulties, losing six of their last nine games. A win against the Bruins would have secured them a playoff berth.
Key Goals of the Match
Kirill Kaprizov scored for Minnesota late in the second period after the team fell behind 3-0. Mats Zuccarello netted a power-play goal with a two-man advantage in the third period, narrowing the gap to 4-2.
Ryan Hartman’s goal brought the Wild closer at 4-3 with just over six minutes remaining, but Zacha’s second goal at 3:10 left in the game ultimately secured the Bruins’ win.
Game Highlights
Peeke opened the scoring just 61 seconds into the game with a shot that deflected off the far post and crossbar. Zacha later extended his career-high goal total, scoring his 25th goal by converting a feed from Arvidsson 14 minutes into the first period. Zacha’s previous career-best was 21 goals, achieved in his first two seasons with the Bruins.
Pastrnak’s cross-ice pass enabled Arvidsson to score from a tough angle midway through the second period, contributing to the Bruins’ offensive pressure.
In their previous encounter on December 14, the Wild had convincingly defeated the Bruins.
Upcoming Matches
The Wild will host the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, while the Bruins are set to face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.
