Tulsi Deepak Timing: Paush Putrada Ekadashi is being celebrated on 30 December 2025. In Hindu religion, the day of Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi. Worship of Lord Vishnu and Mother Tulsi has special significance on this day, because Tulsi is very dear to Lord Vishnu. Auspicious time to light lamp on Tulsi (Shubh Muhurat)
According to astrology and Panchang, the time of evening worship on Ekadashi is considered to be the most fruitful.
- Twilight Muhurta: 05:31 to 05:59 pm.
- Evening puja timings: 05:34 pm to 06:56 pm.
- It would be best to light the lamp immediately after sunset.
Important rules of Tulsi worship
While worshiping Tulsi on the day of Ekadashi, it is mandatory to keep some things in mind, otherwise vices may appear instead of virtues.
Do not give water even by mistake
According to religious beliefs, on the day of Ekadashi, Mother Tulsi observes Nirjala fast for Lord Vishnu. Therefore, water should not be offered to the Tulsi plant today. Their fast is considered broken by giving water.
Do not pluck basil leaves
Plucking basil leaves is prohibited on Ekadashi date. If you need leaves for offering, then you should have plucked them a day before (on Dashami). If not plucked, then use the leaves fallen on the ground.
How is the lamp?
A lamp of pure desi ghee should always be lit near Tulsi in the evening. Compared to oil lamp, ghee lamp is considered to provide more satvik and positive energy.

Mantra chanting: While lighting the lamp, chant the mantra “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay” or “Om Shri Tulsyayi Namah”.
Red Thread (Kalava): Tying a small red thread on a Tulsi pot or plant today can be helpful in fulfilling your wishes.
Lamp at the main entrance: Along with Tulsi, light a ghee lamp at the main entrance of the house, this removes poverty.
