Who was Paundrak Vasudev?
Paundrak Vasudev was a king of the Pundra kingdom near Kashi, who declared himself the real Krishna. His mother was the sister of Shri Krishna’s father, Vasudev, and his father’s name was also Vasudev. He loved flattery and called himself the real Krishna. To look like Shri Krishna, he had used Maya to wear fake Sudarshan Chakra, Kaustubh Mani and peacock feathers. Paundrak Vasudev sent a message to Lord Krishna asking him to leave Mathura or fight with him. When the war finally broke out, Lord Krishna killed Paundrak along with his associates with his Sudarshan Chakra.
Paundrak Vasudev challenged Shri Krishna
Once Paundraka sent a message to Lord Krishna in which it was written that Krishna should give up his name and attire, else be prepared for war. Lord Krishna first ignored his words and actions, but later accepted the challenge of war. When Shri Krishna reached the battlefield, he laughed at Paundrak’s fake form. At last there was a fierce battle between them, after which Lord Krishna killed Paundrak with his Sudarshan Chakra.
