Naxal Free Karregutta Hill: Kargutta hill of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, which was once a stronghold of Naxalites, will now become the new center of Jungle Warfare College. CRPF and other forces will get special training here, which will further strengthen the fight against Naxalism.

The Kargutta hill, once called the “capital” of the Naxalites, will now be a testimony to the bravery of the soldiers of the country. The place from which the Maoists once spread fear, now the second forest of the country will be built, Warfare College. Here forces like CRPF, Chhattisgarh Police, DRG and Cobra will get modern training.

Kargutta: Army’s historic victory from Naxalites

This is the same hill that was freed from Naxalites by security forces after 21 days of action under Operation Black Forest, which started from April 21, 2025. In this operation, 31 Naxalites were killed, 214 bunkers were demolished and several arms manufacturing units were destroyed. It is considered one of the biggest victories of security forces.

Why is Karegutta strategically special?

There are hundreds of caves in the Kargutta hill, about 900 meters high, which Naxalites used as a base for hiding and weapon for years. It was from here that his activities were “command”, so it was called the capital of the Naxalites. Now from here, the soldiers of the country will learn the nuances of the forest warfare.

Common initiative of central and state government

The central government will build this college, while the state government will take responsibility for road and other infrastructure. Earlier in 2004, a counter terrorism and jungle Warfare College was opened in Kanker in 2004 in the state. This new center of Kargutta will further strengthen the fight against Naxalism.

Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Karegutta and honored the soldiers involved in the operation. At the same time, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said, “The false ideology of Naxalites is now dying. By March 2026, the resolve of Naxal -free India will definitely be fulfilled.”
