High drama unfolded in Bihar’s capital Patna on Tuesday as clashes broke out between protesting students and police during a march against the 70th (BPSC) examination.
The students, demanding cancellation of the BPSC examination, broke through police barricades as they marched from Gandhi Maidan towards Raj Bhavan. Tensions escalated as police intervened to stop the protesters from advancing. The police also used water cannons to disperse the students.
The confrontation broke out after the protesters breached barricades erected along the route to prevent them from moving ahead. Police personnel deployed to contain the marchers attempted to stop them, leading to a face-off between the two sides.
Why Are Students Protesting?
The protesters are demanding the cancellation of the 70th BPSC examination, alleging irregularities and paper leaks.
They are also seeking changes to the proposed Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0, including a single-stage exam and the removal of negative marking.
