Passengers told the story of pain received from IndiGo: Flight canceled – staff closed the window

Passengers were upset due to the cancellation of hundreds of Indigo flights across the country. People remained stranded at many airports including Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. They faced the problem of lack of information and expensive alternative tickets.

Guwahati: At Guwahati’s Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, passengers faced cancellation of IndiGo flights, non-answers to queries and rising travel expenses. A distraught passenger narrated his ordeal to ANI after being stranded for days without any clear information or help. The passenger who came to Guwahati from Jaipur told that I had come from Jaipur and I had a return ticket on Indigo flight at 5.55 pm on 5th December. It got canceled and there was a lot of commotion at the airport, due to which the staff closed the window and we went back.

He told- I tried for 3 days, but neither was my ticket rescheduled nor did I get any response from the contact number of the complaint. We finally booked the ticket on Air India two days in advance, which cost us ₹25,800. They are still waiting for a refund of the original fare from IndiGo.

There was chaos in air travel across India on Monday with massive disruption in IndiGo flights. A large number of flights were canceled from major airports across the country. Till 8 am, 18 IndiGo flights were canceled at Ahmedabad airport, which included 9 incoming and 9 outgoing flights. However, airport officials confirmed that terminal and airside operations continued to run smoothly and passenger convenience was being taken care of. During this period, 21 IndiGo flights were operated, which included 7 incoming and 14 outgoing flights.

A total of 127 IndiGo flights were canceled at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL), affecting 65 incoming and 62 outgoing flights. It also had a severe impact on Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), where 77 IndiGo flights were disrupted till date, with 38 inbound and 39 outbound flights cancelled, according to airport officials. Additionally, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) saw the highest number of flight cancellations so far today with a total of 134 flights cancelled, including 75 outgoing and 59 incoming flights.

Due to these large-scale disruptions, the Delhi airport had to issue an advisory, urging passengers to check the latest status of their flights before leaving for the airport. Meanwhile, passengers at Chennai International Airport, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, Assam’s Lok Sabha Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport remained stranded in terminal areas as they waited for updates on their flights. Several IndiGo flights were also reported canceled from Jaipur International Airport, including flights to Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi. However, airport officials confirmed that despite the cancellation the situation remained calm and there were no major problems among passengers.
