Mumbai: The Ekadashi fast holds great spiritual importance in Hindu tradition, being observed twice every month in honour of Lord Vishnu. Among these, Parivartini Ekadashi is considered especially significant. Falling in the Shukla Paksha of the Bhadrapada month, this fast marks the divine moment when Lord Vishnu changes position during His four-month yogic slumber (Chaturmas). This celestial event gives the fast its name — Parivartini meaning “turning” or “changing side.”
Devotees observe this vrat (fast) with deep faith, believing it to bring prosperity, peace, and ultimately moksha (liberation). It is said that those who observe Parivartini Ekadashi with devotion are freed from sins and granted Lord Vishnu’s boundless grace.
