Rumours were rife that Paresh Rawal has signed Drishyam 3 with Ajay Devgn. The film is yet to go on floors as the Hindi makers reportedly await permission from Jeethu Joseph and the producers of the original Malayalam version.
Casting for new characters is in full swing and Paresh was reported to play a central character, catalyst to the story. However, in a recent interview, the veteran actor confirmed being offered Drishyam 3, but he declined it.
Paresh Rawal not in Drishyam 3
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rawal revealed that he hasn’t signed Drishyam 3 as the character offered did not appeal to him. “No, I have not. There’s no truth to these reports at all. Yes, the makers did approach me. But I didn’t feel that the role was suitable for me. Maza nahin aaya (on reading about my part). But the script is very good. I was really impressed. But even in a compelling script, you need a role that you feel excited about. Warna maza nahin aayega,” he said.
Malayalam vs Hindi
Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal, went on floors in Thodupuzha last month. Earlier, there were reports of simultaneous shooting schedule for the Hindi and Malayalam versions. However, that did not materialise.
The makers of the Malayalam version plan to release the film in the first half of 2026. However, producers of Drishyam 3 Hindi want to release it first. Reportedly, director Jeethu Joseph disagreed and allegedly threatened the Hindi team with legal implications.
Also, a teaser of Drishyam 3 in Hindi was scheduled to release on October 2, 2025, but reports claim that they have allegedly been banned from releasing any content without prior permission from Joseph and the Malayalam version’s producers Aashirvad Cinemas.
Amid legal complications, uncertainty looms over Ajay’s Drishyam 3, which is yet to go on floors. The Hindi franchise also stars Tabu, Rajat Kapoor, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and others.
