Paresh Rawal Breaks Silence On Turning Down Drishyam 3: ‘Makers Approached, But Maza Ni Aya.’

Actor Paresh Rawal has revealed that he was offered a role in Drishyam 3 alongside Ajay Devgn but chose to turn it down. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he mentioned that while the script was “very good,” he wasn’t drawn to the character that was offered to him.

Rawal said, “Yes, the makers did approach me. But I didn’t feel that the rule was suitable for me. Maza nahin aaya (it wasn’t fun) (on reading about my part). But the script is very good. I was really impressed. But even in a compelling script, you need a role that you feel excited about. Warna maza nahin aayega (Or else you won’t have fun).”

Drishyam 3, starring Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran, will be directed by Abhishek Pathak and produced by Kumar Mangat. The film is a sequel to the 2015 hit Drishyam, directed by Nishikant Kamat, and Drishyam 2, which released in 2022. The original 2015 crime thriller was a remake of the 2013 Malayalam film starring Mohanlal, who is currently shooting for the Malayalam version of Drishyam 3.

The teaser for Drishyam 3, initially slated for release this month, has been delayed. According to Times Now News, the Malayalam franchise makers, Jeethu and Antony, have an agreement with the Hindi remake’s producer, Kumar Mangat. One clause in the adaptation deal reportedly prevents the Hindi team from making any announcements about the film’s content without the original makers’ permission.

After Mohanlal announced the shoot for the Malayalam version, the makers of the Hindi counterpart declared that their film would release on October 2, 2026. This sudden announcement reportedly did not sit well with Antony and Jeethu, leading to the activation of the clause restricting the Hindi team from making content-related announcements without approval.

Paresh Rawal was last seen in the horror-comedy Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Maddock Films’ Dinesh Vijan along with filmmaker Amar Kaushik. He also has several upcoming projects, including Hera Pheri 3, The Taj Story, Bhooth Bangla, and Welcome To The Jungle.
