THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Governor has said that the parallel meeting of the syndicate that cancelled the registrar’s suspension is illegal and its decisions will not stand as the VC did not approve it.
The Governor has directed the VC to inform Dr Anil Kumar that his suspension is valid, that his continued stay in office is illegal, that he should leave and not enter the office without the VC’s permission. The VC, Dr Mohanan Kunnummal, who will return tomorrow, will take action.
The VC will issue a notice to Dr Anilkumar to vacate the office, otherwise, the police can be sought for help. The Governor’s position is that the decision of the parallel meeting is not even worth paper and therefore Dr Anilkumar is still under suspension. The Governor informed that the VC can issue another order clarifying this. The Governor has given full authority to the VC in this regard. The VC will also have the authority to review the suspension order.
A parallel meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Dr. PM Radhamani to decide on the revocation of Anil Kumar’s suspension after Dr. Ciza Thomas, who is in charge of the Vice-Chancellor, dissolved the syndicate meeting. The minutes of the parallel meeting and the order issued by Joint Registrar P Harikumar to appoint Dr Anil Kumar were seized from the Administrative Section and handed over to the Governor today by the VC. Ciza Thomas also handed over the actual minutes of her dissolution of the syndicate meeting to the Governor. The Governor considered that the parallel meeting and its decisions were invalid, considering that the left syndicate members held it as an illegal meeting.
The VC has to sign off twice to approve and implement any decision of the syndicate. The VC has the power to not implement the decision even after approving it.
