Papmochani Ekadashi fasting story: Every year, the fast of Papmochani Ekadashi is observed on the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Chaitra month. Today devotees are observing the fast of Papmochani Ekadashi. Lord Vishnu is worshiped with rituals on the day of Papamochani Ekadashi. Along with this, fasting is also observed. By worshiping and fasting on this day, Lord Vishnu becomes very happy and bestows blessings of happiness in life.
On the day of Ekadashi fast, the story is recited during the puja, due to which the full results of the puja are achieved. Today also on Papmochani Ekadashi, make sure to recite the Vrat Katha during the puja. By doing this, not only the worship is completed, but one also gets freedom from all sins.
Fast story of Papmochani Ekadashi (Papmochani Ekadashi Vrat Katha)
According to the legend, in ancient times there was a beautiful forest, whose name was Chitraratha. Devraj Indra used to roam freely in this forest along with Gandharva girls and gods. Once a sage named Medhavi was engrossed in penance in the forest. At that time, Kamadeva sent an Apsara named Manjughosha to the sage to break his penance.
The young sage was fascinated by Apsara’s expressions, dance, songs and sarcasm and then started sexual intercourse with her. 57 years passed in doing this. One day Manjughosa took permission from the sage to return to Devlok. After taking permission from him, the sage realized that he had reached the abyss only because of Manjughosha. He became angry at this and cursed Apsara to become a vampire.
Hearing the curse, Manjughosa trembled and started apologizing. Then Munishree advised him to keep fast on Papmochani Ekadashi. After telling Apsara the solution to salvation, he went to his father Chyavan’s ashram. When Chyavan heard the curse from his son, he strongly condemned it. Then he was ordered to observe the fast of Papmochani Ekadashi. Due to the effect of the fast, all the sins of Manjughosha Apsara were destroyed and she was freed from her demonic body and went to heaven.
