Panchayat Season 4 ending explained: What’s next for Sachivji after poll results?

New Delhi: The curtains have been drawn on Panchayat Season 4, which was released on 24 June on Amazon Prime Video, to a wave of mixed reviews. While the web series’s signature rustic charm and dry wit were retained, many longtime viewers expressed disappointment over the emotionally subdued tone.

Several viewers noted that the plot was compromised by an overemphasis on the village’s political theatrics. Nevertheless, the season wrapped up with dramatic turns and a tense election verdict that has left fans eagerly speculating about what Season 5 might bring.

Panchayat Season 4 plot

In Season 4 of Panchayat, a new chapter opened in Phulera following the gunshot incident involving Pradhan Ji. As we get closer to the ending, a visibly anxious Abhishek Tripathi, played by Jitendra Kumar, is seen checking his MBA entrance exam result with Rinki by his side. The revelation of his 97 percentile score brought an understated celebration at the Sachiv office with Pradhan Ji, Vikas, and Prahlad in attendance.

Meanwhile, Abhishek tells Rinki that he might resign and go away if Manju Devi loses the elections. Their conversation reveals uncertainties and a subtle confession of love. However, Rinki is saddened by his impending departure. Abhishek tries to offer her reassurance and reminds her that many steps still remained before anything became certain.

On the political front, Pradhan Ji was shown nervously doubling the celebratory laddoo order while Bhushan and Kranti Devi met a grieving Chandrakishore, who was still reeling from the loss of his beloved horse, Sitara. The couple promise him they will make sure that Sitara will be returned, but only after their political win.

Bhushan calls Binod to break the news that Kfranti Devi has won by a margin of 73 votes. He tells him to come to the MLA’s residence for a grand celebration. Meanwhile, Pradhan Ji refuses to accept the Laddoo from Binod and leaves. Stangelled with the grief of losing the lections, he creates a scene at his house and throws the kitchen utensils that were used to prepare the Laddoos at his house.

In the final scene of Season 4, Abhishek aka Sachivji stands with Vikas as a painter removes Manju Devi’s name from the Panchayat office wall. Bhushan asks him how long Sachivji is planning to stay. The latter replies that he is there for the next three or four months. The season’s ending has left several threads untied.

Panchayat Season 5

Will Abhishek leave Phulera for business school, and if so, what becomes of his relationship with Rinki? Could Manju Devi, played by Neena Gupta, plot a return to the political stage? Is Prahlad eyeing a shot at MLA? And how will this political shift affect the dynamics of Phulera, which has always teetered between simplicity and storm? The battle may have been lost, but the war is far from over.
