Continuous updates are coming regarding Panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh. In the latest update, State Election Commissioner Anil Khachi has given important information. It is noteworthy that out of the four phases of the election process of Panchayati Raj institutions, the work of ward closure has been successfully completed. Now the final publication of the voter list in the second phase is scheduled on November 13. Only after this the elections can be officially announced.

Panchayat elections will be conducted on time

State Election Commissioner Anil Khachi said that if we get the support of the government, the Panchayat elections will be conducted on time. He said that reports on the condition of roads and disaster will be taken from officials of Public Works Department and Revenue Department.

Date will be decided after every evaluation

After receiving the report, in the next two phases, meetings will be held regarding reservation roster and with district and assistant election officers. The date of election will be decided after evaluating all the situations.

Announcement after meeting with officials

Anil Khachi informed that the tenure of the public representatives elected in Lahaul-Spiti in April is ending, whereas in other districts it will end in January. Khachi clarified that the announcement of Panchayat elections will be made only after the meeting with the officials.

Voter list update work continues

The Election Commission is making full preparations to conduct the elections on time. At present, work is being done to update the voter lists. Those who complete 18 years on October 1, 2025, will be able to get their names included in the voter list.

Process of adding and removing names continues

Names of a total of 56 lakh voters in the state are included on the basis of draft roll in which the work of adding and removing names is going on. The Commission completes the election process through District Appropriate Officers i.e. District Election Officers, SDM i.e. Assistant Election Officers.

Exam decision before 15th December

Polling stations are set up in schools. For voting, services of teachers, secretaries of Panchayati Raj institutions, Patwari and others have to be taken. In such a situation, it has been decided to conduct the examinations in schools before December 15.

It costs Rs 15 to 18 crores

It was told that it takes Rs 15 to 18 crore to conduct elections of Panchayati Raj institutions. In this, the biggest expense comes on printing ballot papers. Apart from this, the expenditure is incurred in paying the employees serving on duty.
