Singer Palash Sen has opened up about going through a difficult phase in his personal life, saying that hard work has remained his guiding mantra and that music continues to give him strength.
Sen shared a series of photographs from one of his recent performances on Instagram, along with a glimpse of his tribute to late singer KK through the song “Aapki Duaa”.
Reflecting on his back-to-back concerts in Dubai and Delhi, Sen said the moments audiences see on stage are preceded by months of dealing with challenges, doubts and hard work away from the spotlight.
“Behind every high on stage are months of pushing through the lows, dusting off the doubts, and putting in the work when no one’s watching. It has been a tough time for me personally too,” he wrote.
Sen described his approach to work and music in deeply personal terms.
“But my mantra is hard work. Work is worship. Music is worship. And luckily for us, work is Music! Back to back concerts in Dubai and Delhi, and I’m back home as a tired, sleepy man but an extremely grateful man,” he wrote, adding, “Aapki Duaa rahi, toh har din aisa hi hoga.”
The singer also paid tribute to KK, whose music earned him a lasting place among the prominent voices of Indian playback singing. KK, known as “The Mesmerizer”, began his career with advertising jingles and made his film debut with a song in the 1996 film Maachis.
He released his debut album Pal in 1999, with the title track and “Yaaron” becoming enduring favourites, particularly at school and college farewell ceremonies. The album marked a major breakthrough in his career.
KK subsequently became one of the leading playback singers of the 2000s, delivering popular songs across several languages. His notable tracks include “Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe” from Dil Chahta Hai, “O Humdum Suniyo Re” from Saathiya, “Dola Re Dola” from Devdas, “Aankhon Mein Teri” from Om Shanti Om, “Khuda Jaane” from Bachna Ae Haseeno, “Zara Sa” from Jannat and “Tu Jo Mila” from Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Meanwhile, Sen formed the Indian pop-rock band Euphoria in 1998. The band has released 16 singles while embracing the DIY approach and the digital transformation of the music industry.
Euphoria was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Indian Recording Arts Academy at the Palm Expo in Mumbai in 2012. Besides its pop-rock music, the band has also been known for songs carrying satirical messages.
