The group claims that 12 soldiers were aboard the vehicle at the time of the blast, which was caused by an IED attack. The BLA has taken responsibility for the deadly strike.

“Terrorists belonging to the Balochistan Liberation Army targeted a security forces’ vehicle with an improvised explosive device in the general area Mach, Kachhi district,” news agency PTI quoted a Pakistan Army statement as saying.

Baloch Army

The army said it was conducting a sanitisation operation to ensure no terrorists remained hidden in the area. Just last week, security forces killed 10 suspected militants in two separate encounters in Balochistan’s Kech and Ziarat districts, as part of an intensified crackdown on insurgent activity in the region.
In March, tragedy struck the Jaffar Express- a train carrying 440 passengers from Quetta to Peshawar- when it was hijacked by BLA separatists. The horrific incident claimed the lives of 21 civilians and four soldiers.

For nearly two decades, Balochistan has been mired in unrest, with local ethnic Baloch groups accusing the federal government of exploiting the province’s rich mineral resources while neglecting its people.

Ambush On A prison Van

The attack comes just days after the separatist Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) launched a violent ambush on a prison van in Balochistan’s Kalat district. Late Friday night, around 30 to 40 armed militants blocked a key highway and intercepted a police-escorted prison transport. While the prisoners were eventually released, the incident took a grim turn – five police officers were taken hostage, according to a senior police official quoted by AFP.
