The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a revised men’s squad for the Asian Games after Salman Mirza was sidelined due to an injury.
In an official update provided by the board, it was confirmed that the left-arm pacer was ruled out of the event due to a fracture in his left thumb. He’s now undergoing rehabilitation and is expected to regain complete fitness in the first week of October. As a result, fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr has been added to the team as a replacement.
The Pakistan team will be led by Sahibzada Farhan, with Abdul Samadas as his deputy. The selection committee did not name Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah in the squad, and it’s not clear whether the management has moved beyond them or has rested them.
The Pakistan team for the Asian Games assembled in Karachi on Sunday, and the entire squad will be participating in a training camp from Monday, September 21, to Thursday, September 14. The Farhan-led side will leave for Japan on Thursday night.
Five members of the squad, including Usman Khan, Saim Ayub, Maaz Sadaqat, Hasan Nawaz and Sufyan Moqim, are expected to join the camp following their franchise commitments, which will conclude with the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) final.
