Pakistan ODI Tour Of Bangladesh 2026 In Doubt- Here’s Why It Could Be Delayed?

After their exit from the Super 8 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan are scheduled to resume their cricketing calendar with a tour to Bangladesh featuring three ODIs beginning from March 11. The series marks the first preparation for both teams for the ODI World Cup 2027.

The Men in Green are scheduled to reach Bangladesh on March 9 for the ODI series, with all three matches scheduled to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on March 11, 13, and 15, respectively.

However, the proposed series is in jeopardy following regional instability. According to sources, quoted by GeoSuper, the tour will only proceed if the prevailing situation does not escalate travel risks or security concerns.

“If this comes to a stage where they can’t travel, then we cannot do anything. But so far we haven’t received any correspondence from the PCB in that regard,” BCB cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedin said.

Pakistan Team To Begin Preparations For ICC Men’s World Cup 2027

On the sidelines of this tour of Bangladesh, the Pakistan cricket team is set to prepare for the upcoming assignment and shift its focus towards the ODI World Cup scheduled for next year. The ODI World Cup will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

According to official sources, cited by GeoSuper, the national selection panel is preparing for a potential overhaul of the ODI setup. Several emerging players are expected to be drafted into the side, while a few established names could face the axe following inconsistent performances. Senior figures such as Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Mohammad Nawaz are reportedly under scrutiny as the team management weighs its options ahead of a crucial rebuilding phase.

The selectors are also set to remove around five to six players from the T20 set-up, although the move would not be immediate, as Pakistan does not have an immediate T20I assignment.

When Did Pakistan Last Features In An ODI?

The men in Green last featured in ODIs in November last year when they hosted Sri Lanka for a three-match series and clean-swept it.

It marked the second series for ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi as the captain in the longer format, with his maiden assignment being a three-match home series against South Africa, which the Green Shirts won 2-1.
