The Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) confirmed that Karachi will host the inaugural Over-40s T20 World Cup from November 21 to December 1, 2025. It’s worth noting that the upcoming edition will be the first time the veteran tournament is contested in the T20 format, with 12 participating nations.
A total of 12 teams will compete in the inaugural Over-40s T20 World Cup. Hosts Pakistan are placed in Group 1 alongside the West Indies, South Africa, Hong Kong, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Group 2 features Australia, the USA, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia, and a Rest of the World XI.
Pakistan Announce Groups for Over-40s T20 World Cup 2025
The upcoming Over-40s T20 World Cup in Karachi is set to feature several former cricket stars, including Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, and Kamran Akmal, making it one of the most anticipated veterans’ events in recent years.
Men in Green previously clinched titles in the Over-60s World Cup (Brisbane 2022), Over-40s Global Cup (Karachi 2023), and Over-50s World Cup (Colombo 2025).
A total of 42 matches will take place across different venues in Karachi, with all of Pakistan’s games scheduled under lights.
The event, originally set for December 1-13, was moved forward to November 21-December 1 to avoid a clash with the 35th National Games, which will be held in Karachi from December 6-13.
Group 1: Pakistan, West Indies, South Africa, Hong Kong, Canada, and the UAE.
Group 2: Australia, USA, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia and Rest of the World (ROW).

PVCA Chairman Fawad Ijaz Khan expressed gratitude to all 12 participating nations for their support. He added that the association had consulted every team before finalizing the new tournament dates and appreciated their understanding and cooperation.
“We have taken all 12 participating nations, including Australia, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Zimbabwe, Canada, Saudi Arabia, UAE, US and rest of the World team, into confidence,” the PVCA chairman said.
“We are extremely grateful to all the teams for their cooperation and acceptance of our request for the new schedule,” he added.
When is the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026?
The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 6 to March 7. This will be the second consecutive edition to feature 20 teams.
The top seven teams secured automatic qualification from the 2024 tournament, alongside hosts India and Sri Lanka. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the United States, the West Indies, and other teams will compete in the tournament.
India will enter the competition as defending champions, having defeated South Africa by seven wickets in the 2024 final. With the tournament returning to home conditions, the Men in Blue will be eager to retain their title and continue their dominance in the T20 format.
