Traveling and trade between Pakistan and China are going to be closed on the 20th day of Khanjrab Pass. This step has been taken due to the ongoing dharna on the Karakoram highway. Demonstrations are protesting against tax policies and decisions to stop customs withdrawal at Sost dry port. Due to this, international and local trade is being badly affected. The protesters say that the government is not solving the matter seriously. Whereas Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif promised people to get rid of the goods stranded in the port and forgive him outright. Traders have also opposed this.
Unconstitutional to collect such tax
Regarding this entire matter, members of the Tajir Etihad Action Committee in Sost city said that this movement is being done to protect the constitutional and legal authorities of the people of POGB. Apart from this, they are getting the support of Vyapir, youth, political and religious organizations. Apart from this, protesters Abbas Mir says that it is wrong to take tax in this way until the POGP receives representation in the Parliament of Pakistan. He said that it is unconstitutional to collect tax in this way.
Goods have been deteriorating at Sost dry port for one year
The traders informed that the containers that have come from POGB have been stuck on the Sost Dry Port for more than a year and the goods of several lakh rupees have been bought in the rain. POGB Vidhan Sabha opposition leader Jawad Ali Manwa said that taxing in POGB is completely wrong. Free trade with China is his fundamental right. He warned that if the government does not take steps, the movement will intensify. POGB CM Haji Gulbar Khan has formed a 20 -member committee. So that issues related to trade tax can be resolved.
