PAK vs BAN 3rd ODI: The 3-match ODI series played between Bangladesh and Pakistan was very exciting. Bangladesh won the last ODI by 11 runs and won the series 2-1. However, high voltage drama was seen many times during this series. The series also ended with a big uproar. During the third ODI in Mirpur, an incident happened which shocked everyone. This incident also became the reason for Pakistan’s defeat, due to which the Pakistan team has taken major action.
Umpire played ‘game’ with Pakistan team
A big controversy arose during this match played in Mirpur. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has filed an official complaint with match referee Niyamur Rashid. The reason for the complaint was the LBW review taken by Bangladesh after the over of the match. Which was accepted by the umpire Kumar Dharmasena present on the field, but Pakistan believes that this review was taken at the wrong time.
Why was there an uproar over LBW review?
Actually, in the match, Bangladesh, batting first, scored 290 and Pakistan got the target of 291 runs. During the chase, Pakistan needed 12 runs from the last 2 balls to win. Then Rishad Hussain bowled the 5th ball of the last over on the leg stump which went through the leg side and away from Shaheen Afridi. The umpire declared it wide because the ball was going out of the leg side. The ball was not near Afridi’s feet or any part of his body. DRS Hawk-Eye observed that a spike appeared as the ball passed the bottom of the bat, indicating that the ball had touched the bottom of the bat and therefore could not have gone wide. Even though Bangladesh lost the review, the wide decision was overturned. Due to which the target came down to 12 runs in 1 ball and Pakistan lost the match.
But Pakistan alleges that before the review was taken, a replay of that ball was shown on the big screen of the stadium, due to which the team got the benefit of the review. According to the rules, the time for review is limited and taking decisions after watching replays is considered wrong. Due to which Pakistan has filed a complaint. In the complaint, Pakistan has said that the umpire should not have accepted Bangladesh’s appeal after the time limit of review and the replay being shown on the screen.
Pakistan demanded action
Let us tell you, the team is given a time limit of 15 seconds to take the review. But no timer was shown in the broadcast during the match, due to which Pakistan had to face loss. However, it is not yet clear what action the PCB wants from the match referee, although it is believed that they are at least hoping to publicly admit that a mistake was made.
