India said it has ‘neutralised’ attacks in various places targeting military installations in Jammu and Pathankot. Alongside, it successfully thwarted attacks in 15 places in northern and western parts of India as tensions brewed raising concerns of a wider conflict.
Pakistan targeted various military installations in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan. Explosions were reported in Jammu in various areas including RS Pura, Arnia, Samba and Hiranagar along with Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
Indian Air defence systems used S-400 missile system, intercepting the attacks on military establishments and protecting civilians. Sirens and various explosions were heard in Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla and Kupwara as the Indian Air Force carried out a massive night vigil in the border areas.
In response, India took up retaliatory strikes destroying the Lahore air defense systems. They shot down F-16 and JF-17 Thunder jets that took off from Sargodha air base. Pakistan tried to swarm various places with drones, but the Indian Air Force neutralised them in a counter-drone attack.
On May 10, a meeting is being held at the residence of Rajnath Singh. CDS is also present. The meeting between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and PM Modi concludes.
In its briefing, MEA said Pakistan shelled Rajouri killing additional district development commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa, adding to the civilian casualties.
At the MEA-MoD press conference WG CDR Vyomika Singh said that Pakistan was spreading malicious campaign saying it has destroyed India’s S-400 system and air bases in Surat and Sirsa. Singh also briefed that India conducted precision attacks on identified military targets in Pakistan.
MEA announced that Kartarpur Corridor has been shut down indefinitely due to tensions along LoC.
MEA made it clear that India did not want escalation, but expected the same discipline from Pakistan.
