The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended two individuals for allegedly harbouring terrorists responsible for the brutal attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists and left 16 others grievously injured.
The accused, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, Pahalgam and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam, have reportedly revealed critical information to investigators. According to the NIA, both men disclosed the identities of the three armed terrorists who executed the attack. The terrorists have been confirmed as Pakistani nationals affiliated with the proscribed terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The Pahalgam terror attack, which shook the nation, targeted unsuspecting tourists, causing widespread fear and condemnation. The NIA’s swift action in arresting the accused and uncovering the terrorists’ identities marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities continue to pursue leads to dismantle the terror network responsible and ensure justice for the victims and their families.
As per the NIA, two men arrested in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack knowingly provided food, shelter and logistical aid to LeT terrorists at a seasonal hut (dhok) in Hill Park ahead of the April 22 assault. The hut served as a hideout and launchpad for the attackers.
According to the NIA, the accused have identified the perpetrators as Pakistani nationals affiliated with the banned terror outfit LeT. The agency described the killings as deliberate and among the most brutal terror strikes in recent times.
NIA has arrested the duo under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. The case, officially registered as RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU, is being investigated by the NIA’s Jammu unit, which is also probing the wider network of local accomplices and cross-border handlers.
Further details are expected as the investigation progresses, the agency stated.
