Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur and star batsman Rohit Sharma have been selected for the Padma Shri Award. Just a day before Republic Day 2026, like every year, Padma Awards were announced by the Government of India, in which it has been decided to honor many stars associated with the world of sports. The biggest names in this are former Indian men’s team captain Rohit Sharma and current women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Apart from these, Vijay Amritraj, who was among the most successful tennis players of the country, has been honored with Padma Bhushan.
On Sunday 25 January, the government announced the Padma Awards, which include Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri Awards. This year, the government has decided to honor a total of 131 personalities with the Padma Award, out of which 5 have been given the second highest award, Padma Vibhushan. It has been decided to honor 13 with Padma Bhushan and a total of 113 with Padma Shri. 1 Padma Bhushan and 8 Padma Shri awards have been given from the world of sports.
