Ingredients (for about 8–10 shots)

  • Betel leaves- 5-6 leaves
  • Gulkand- 2 tbsp
  • Vanilla ice cream- 3 scoops
  • Milk – 2 shots (about 120–150 ml)
  • Fennel (roasted)- 1 teaspoon (slightly crushed)
  • Dry betel leaves – 2 spoons (optional)
  • Ice cubes-4-5 cubes (optional)
  • For garnish – chopped rose petals/a little gulkand, a pinch of chaat masala or dry fennel

Paan Shot Recipe (Step by Step)

  • Wash the betel leaves thoroughly and dry the water. If the leaves are large, remove the thick vein in the middle so that the flavors remain mild.
  • Add betel leaves, gulkand, vanilla ice cream, milk and roasted fennel in a blender jar. If you are using dry paan then add that also.
  • Blend everything for 30–45 seconds, until the mixture is smooth and creamy. (If it seems too thick, add a little more milk).
  • Taste and add more gulakand if you want it sweeter, or add a drop of lemon for a little sourness (but this may alter the traditional flavour).
  • If you want, before serving in the glass, filter the shot once through a strainer, this will remove the coarse part and give a smooth flavor.
  • Place a small pinch of gulkand, some crushed fennel seeds or dried rose petals on each shot. Serve immediately after blending, this will keep the drink cool and fresh.
