What is the 4-day free stay?
The 4-day visa-free transit facility in Singapore is for travelers transiting through Singapore en route to a third country. Under this rule, tourists can comfortably stay in Singapore for up to 4 days without a visa. This benefit is available to the citizens of India, China, Turkmenistan and Japan. However, for this, permission from the Singapore government is required.
Which tourists can get permission?
If your journey involves transit through Singapore, that is, if Singapore is your layover stop on your way to a third country – for example, if you are going from India to Australia, Japan or the USA and Singapore is your layover – you may be allowed.

- You must have a confirmed onward travel ticket which is valid within 96 hours of your arrival in Singapore. However, a visa may also be required for some countries.
- If you are an Indian citizen, you must have a long-term permit or visa for certain countries to avail VFTF (Visa-Free Transit Facility).
How to avail 96-hour visa-free transit or VFTF benefit?
You can enter Singapore by airport, sea or land. You will need to show your ticket and visa documents to the immigration and checkpoint authorities. The ICA officer will then decide whether you are eligible for 96-hour visa-free transit. If you are eligible, you will be allowed to travel.
