Oppo has already announced that the Reno 15 series is coming to India close on the heels of a tri-model teaser trio – comprising Reno 15, Reno 15 Pro and Reno 15 Pro Mini.
Now, a new leak indicates that lineup may be larger than anyone thought. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer recently launched the Oppo Reno 7 series, and it is expected to also launch a fourth model-the Oppo Reno 15C-in India too, as the company has not indicated anything and our tipsters have mentioned it.
Oppo Reno 15C India Launch Rumours
According to the tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Oppo Reno 15C might debut with other members of the Reno 15 family in India. The biggest takeaway is pricing. According to the leak, the Reno 15C could be priced under Rs 40,000 and will be cheaper than the Pro versions of the Reno device, and it may turn out to be a slightly more affordable premium smartphone in the range.
Notably, Oppo has also released a Reno 15c in China recently, but the two don’t share any historic specification lines. That could mean Oppo is bringing a region-specific version to our shores, or that the leaked info will actually apply to an entirely different phone that just so happens to share a name.
Expected Oppo Reno 15C Specifications (India Variant)
According to rumours, the Indian Oppo Reno 15C will have a 6.57-inch full HD LTPS OLED display with a maximum brightness mode of 1,400 nits and an estimated refresh rate of 120 Hz. Additionally, this phone is probably going to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC with up to 256GB of internal storage and 12GB of RAM.
For the cameras, the leaked specs suggest a triple rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, the phone is rumoured to get a 50-megapixel ultra-wide front camera. The device may be backed by a 7,000 mAh battery with up to 80 W charging support. The device is also rumoured to be 8.14 mm in thickness and weigh between 189 g and 195 g.
How This Differs From the China-Only Reno 15c
The distinctive hardware and design of the Chinese Oppo Reno 15c make it stand out. It has a 6.59-inch full HD AMOLED display with a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. With a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, up to 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage, the phone offers users a pleasurable smartphone experience.
Its camera hardware is higher-end, too-it has a 50-megapixel main sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The Chinese model has a 6,500mAh battery that can be fast-charged at up to 80W, which is very different from the specs rumoured for the Indian version.
What This Means for Buyers
Thanks to its leaked specifications not corresponding with the Chinese Reno 15c, there’s a bit of confusion around what the Reno 15C might actually be and how it may fit in India. Oppo might be developing a watered-down iteration for the Indian market, or it’s just that the details are incorrect.
There are 3 existing Reno models, and that’s without including the Oppo Reno 15C as well. Should it manage to carry a sub-Rs 40,000 price tag with an OLED display and huge power pack, then the TV model might just be an interesting value-based addition to the Reno 15 series.
