New Delhi: As the Lok Sabha began its special debate on ‘Operation Sindoor’ on Monday during the ongoing Monsoon Session, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged all Members of Parliament to rise and applaud the bravery of the Indian armed forces.
The military operation, launched on 7 May, was India’s direct response to the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
During the session, MP Rahul Gandhi however did not join the standing ovation. This triggered backlash, among who was Colonel Rohit Dev, who posted on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Gandhi of disrespecting the armed forces.
“When Rajnath Singh asked all Parliamentarians to applaud the bravery of our soldiers… you did not, Rahul Gandhi, and instead sat with a hand extended on the bench. You truly are a sellout and a traitor. Koi shak?” the retired Colonel wrote.
The debate on Operation Sindoor is expected to continue throughout the week.</
