Operation Safed Sagar: Indian Army Veteran Flags Incorrect Draping Of Tricolour On Ajay Ahuja’s Coffin In Netflix Show

Operation Safed Sagar on Netflix pays an emotional tribute to the brave Indian Air Force officers who fought tirelessly with the Indian Army during the 1999 Kargil War. The six-episode series directed by Oni Sen is being applauded for its authenticity, humane approach to an important chapter and brilliant performances by the lead cast. Amid its roaring success, Operation Safed Sagar was recently called out for an error. Indian Army Veteran, Col Vembu Shankar, SC, noted the incorrect draping of the tricolour on a coffin.

 took a picture of the scene where Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja, played by  , is martyred and his pallbearers, Flying Officer C.H. Bal Reddy (Mihir Ahuja) and Flying Officer Rajpal Singh Dhaliwal (Abhay Verma) carry his coffin for the last rites. He pointed out that the draping of the Indian flag on the coffin was incorrect.

On Instagram, he wrote, “The coffin is draped in the Indian National Flag. The green portion of the flag is seen. This is an incorrect draping of the Indian National Flag on a coffin as per the Flag Code of India. The saffron should have been towards the head. I am shocked how the authorities at the service Headquarters and the military advisors have overlooked this fact.”

Col Vembu Shankar further demanded a suspension of ’s screening on Netflix until the corrections are made. “Can someone in the Air HQ connect with the producers to digitally alter/edit the colour and until then suspend the screening on the streaming platform Netflix and also issue an apology in mainstream media,” he said.

Alka Ahuja praises Siddharth for his performance as Ajay Ahuja

The makers of Operation Safed Sagar are yet to react to Col Vembu Shankar’s post. On the other hand, Squadron Leader  ’s wife Alka praised Siddharth for his performance in the series. The actor had shared a gratitude post on Monday along with a picture with ‘Veer Naari’ Alka. Her comment for Siddharth read, “Thank you so very much dear Siddharth from the core of my heart for bringing dear Ajay on screen.”
