The intention of the government is clear that the benefits of this scheme should reach every eligible farmer, but with complete transparency. This is why eKYC has been made mandatory. This process ensures that the money is going to the genuine bank account of the right beneficiary and there are no irregularities in it. This simply means that the money comes directly to your bank account from the central government, there is no middleman or office visit. But this is possible only when the information entered on your bank account, Aadhar card and PM Kisan portal is absolutely correct and linked to each other. If you have not done eKYC, then technically the system will not be able to transfer money to your account. Similarly, those who are new farmers and want to join this scheme, they should also get themselves registered immediately. Who are the characters?

  • The first condition is that the beneficiary should be an Indian citizen.
  • The second and most important condition is that the farmer should have cultivable land (agricultural land).
  • This scheme has been mainly designed to provide support to small and marginal farmers of the country.

Who is not eligible?

  • The government has also determined some categories which cannot avail the benefits of this scheme.
  • For example, farmers who hold or have held constitutional posts are not eligible.
  • Farmers who pay income tax have also been kept out of this scheme.
  • Similarly, retired employees receiving monthly pension of Rs 10,000 or more (even if they are engaged in farming) are also not eligible.
  • Also, institutional land holders, such as a trust, co-operative society or company, also cannot apply for this scheme.

New farmers should apply like this

If you are a new farmer and fulfill all the eligibility criteria, then you can easily register for this scheme. The government has provided both online and offline facilities for this. The online process is quite simple and fast.

  • First of all you have to go to the official website of PM Kisan pmkisan.gov.in.
  • On the homepage of the website, in the ‘Farmer Corner’ section, the option of ‘New Farmer Registration’ will appear, click on it.
  • Here fill your Aadhaar number, state name and captcha code shown on the screen correctly.
  • After this, an OTP (One Time Password) will come on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. Complete the verification by entering this OTP.
  • Once the verification is done, a registration form will open in front of you. In this, you will have to fill your personal information correctly, like name, address, bank account details (account number, IFSC code), mobile number and information related to your land (Khasra-Khatauni).
  • If necessary, scan and upload the land documents (like copy of Khatauni) and submit the form.

Your application will be sent to the State Level Nodal Officer (SNO) for scrutiny. Once everything is found correct in the verification, your name will be added to the beneficiary list.
