Monsoon session: The monsoon session of Parliament is about to end. Earlier on Wednesday, the online gaming bill from Lok Sabha passed 2025 (Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025). MPs from opposition parties created a ruckus, but the government was successful in passing the bill. The bill has been brought to promote and regulate the online gaming sector. It has received different reactions. This is happy e-sports industry, but a wave of concern has run in billions of dollars of real money gaming market. Online gamble will be banned after the new bill is enacted. Those who do so and preach for this will be sentenced to jail and fine.
After the online gaming bill passed, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till Thursday due to the uproar of the opposition parties. At the same time, the proceedings of Rajya Sabha have also been postponed till Thursday. The bill proposes the formation of a central regulatory body to monitor four major areas: e-sport, educational sports, social gaming and real money gaming. Of these, real money gaming platforms- such as poker and fantasy sports have suffered the most.

Online gamble, will be punished
The new bill provides for ban on online gambling. On doing this, you will get punishment. The “prohibition” part of the new bill states that no person will be involved in offer, assistance and encouragement of online money game and online money gaming service. Banks and financial institutions have been prevented from processing transactions for such platforms.
After the new bill law is enacted, the service provider offering real money games may be imprisoned up to 3 years or a fine of up to Rs 1 crore. Advertising such a platform can lead to a fine of up to two years or a fine of up to Rs 50 lakh.

Gaming platforms like Dream 11 and My11Circle will be affected
