Ultra-rich travel market
The market for ultra-rich travel in the world is changing rapidly. Now luxury is not limited to just five-star hotels, but has also reached superyachts floating on the sea. In this series, Aman Group has introduced its new project Aman at Sea (Amangati), the prices of which even rich travelers are surprised to hear.
How expensive is Aman at Sea?
The discussion started as soon as the booking opened on 21 January. Starting packages for this ultra-luxury cruise start at $38,500 (about $7,700 per night) for five nights. At the same time, the price of 4,000 square foot super-premium suites goes up to $29,000 (approximately ₹26 lakh) per night. These suites include amenities like private whirlpool and private elevator.
Exclusive experience for only 94 guests
Amangati will sail on Mediterranean routes in 2027 and will accommodate only 94 guests on each voyage. It will be a $700 million superyacht, which will include two helipads, IV therapy in the spa, personal concierge and daily breakfast in the suite. Through the concierge you can also get VIP passes for events like Cannes Film Festival or Monaco Grand Prix.
Question on price, but trust in brand
However, many travel agents and customers are hesitant at this price. Wine and some restaurant expenses are not included in the package, which is also drawing criticism. Yet Aman Group CEO Vladislav Doronin says they are selling the Aman experience on the water, not the cruise.
Other brands also in the field
Aman is not alone. Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton and Orient Express have also entered or are about to enter this segment. Ritz-Carlton’s yacht service has been operational since 2022 and is slowly gaining popularity, while the rest of the brands will launch their services by 2027.
hint of the future
Travel experts believe that ultra-luxury yacht travel is for a limited but extremely wealthy class. The question is whether this model will be able to survive for a long time at such high prices, or will it remain just a luxury trend.
