Mumbai Court Bomb Threat: Thursday was a day full of sudden fear and chaos for Mumbai and Nagpur. One after another the courts received bomb threatening emails and within no time the security agencies came into alert mode. There was a stir from Bombay High Court to Bandra, Andheri and Nagpur courts. Was it just a fake mail or preparation for some bigger conspiracy?
Which court received the threat first?
On Thursday, December 18, some major courts of Mumbai first received a threatening email. The email had warned of a bomb blast. As soon as the information was received, the police and court administration took action without delay.
Which courts were evacuated?
Following the threat, these courts were immediately evacuated as a precautionary measure:
- Bombay High Court
- Bandra Court
- Andheri Court
- Mazgaon Court
- Nagpur Court
Hundreds of lawyers, staff and common people were thrown out of the court premises within minutes. Police were deployed in the entire area.

Was anything suspicious found during the search?
Bomb disposal squad, dog squad and local police conducted an intensive search operation in the court premises. Every corner was investigated, but it is a matter of relief that no suspicious object or explosive has been found so far.
Who is sending the email?
Now this is the biggest mystery of this whole matter. Police are trying to trace the email ID and IP address from which the threat was sent. Cyber cell team is also involved in the investigation. Officials are trying to find out whether this mail was sent by some mischievous element or there is some serious intention behind it.

Why was Nagpur court targeted?
After Mumbai, Nagpur court also received a similar threatening email. It is clear from this that the matter is not limited to just one city. Police are also investigating from this angle whether all the emails have been sent from the same source.

In a big city like Mumbai, government offices, schools and airports have already received threatening emails. In many cases these proved to be fake, but each time the threat was taken seriously – because even a small carelessness can cause big damage.
