Cuttack: In a shocking turn of events in Subarnapur district of Odisha, a newly married woman reportedly plotted her own kidnapping along with her lover. The woman had got married on February 21.
Sharing details, the police said that Haribandhu Patel alias Rinku was last Saturday. The couple was returning home after the wedding. IT was then that they were intercepted by a white Maruti car near the Tarbha police station limits in Subarnapu. While Rinku is a resident of Bolangir district, Rashmi s from Bandhpali.
How was the kidnapping orchestrated?
Earlier, it was initially claimed that the woman’s former boyfriend forcibly took her in the car after brandishing a firearm. The groom and others accompanying them were left helpless. According to NDTV, the groom approached Tarbha police station to lodge a complaint. In his complaint, he claimed that his wife was kidnapped at gunpoint when they were returning home after their marriage.
During the probe, it was later found that the woman Rashmi had herself called her lover and planned the kidnapping. It said that the action would be taken as per the law.

In another incident, two unidentified persons allegedly kidnapped a 20-year-old man in Maharashtra’s Thane city. After this, they demanded Rs 5 lakh from his friend. The incident took place at Manpada area, when the victim and his friend were returning home on a bike.
During their way back, both of them reportedly stopped by two accused who assaulted them and forced the victim in their two-wheeler before fleeing from the spot. Later, kidnappers contacted the friend and demanded Rs 5 lakh. While a case has been registered, the police suspect that the incident could be the result of personal rivalry.
