Disappointed at not taking any action from the college administration, the student set herself on fire in the campus, in which she was scorched up to 90 percent. He was first rushed to Balasore district headquarters Hospital, where the condition was referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on July 12.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar said in a statement, ‘He was admitted to the Burns Center ICU. The patient was brought to the senses by applying IV fluid, IV antibiotics, tubes and placed on mechanical ventilation. Despite all other possible medical efforts, including renal replacement therapy at Burns ICU, it could not be saved. On July 14, at 11:46 pm, he was declared a medically dead.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over the death of the student and assured her family that all the culprits in this case would be punished as per the law.
