ODI World Cup 2027 schedule announced: India to kick off campaign against Australia

New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced the schedule for the 2027 ODI World Cup. The cricketing extravaganza is set to get underway on October 02 and will be played across 12 venues in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

India will begin their campaign against defending champions Australia in what will be a rematch of the 2023 ODI World Cup final. India will lock horns with Australia in Cape Town on October 06 before taking on arch-rivals Pakistan in their second group match in Johannesburg on October 10.

A total of 12 teams will take part in the tournament. While ten teams have already qualified for the showpiece event, the remaining two teams will be decided at the Cricket World Cup 2027 Qualifier. The winner of the Qualifier will directly reach the group stage of the tournament, while the other top three teams will compete in the Super Series, which starts on October 02.

The winner of the Super Series will become the 12th team to qualify for the tournament. The 12 teams have been divided into two groups of six each, with the group stage kicking off on October 07.
